The critical success factor in devising any road safety plan for your business is to make sure that staff is involved in the process from the start.
Road safety and workplace safety authorities generally agreed that there are seven core elements to any successful company road safety plan.
They are:
- Including road safety as an integral part of your company’s safety and health policy.
- Considering road safety when you recruit and select staff.
- Including road safety issues in your staff induction programs.
- Adhering to best practice when buying and maintaining company vehicles.
- Having a system to record individual and overall driver and vehicle crash involvement.
- Recognizing positive and negative staff driving performances by having staff incentives and disincentives.
- Supporting training, education and development programs that promote safe driving.
