The newly constructed service centre of the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA Fund) in Katima Mulilo was officially inaugurated on Thursday by Deputy Prime Minister, John Mutorwa.
Mutorwa in his speech said the inauguration of the new office building clearly denotes the willingness and preparedness of the MVA Fund in supporting government’s efforts towards decentralization policy of bringing equitable access to services to all Namibians. The Minister stressed that he wished the MVA Fund success in the envisaged greater expansion of its footprint to eventually have its presence in all the country’s fourteen regions.
Mutorwa added that as a statutory organ of government, the fund fulfils its patriotic duty through the prudent dispensation of relevant benefit claims to persons, who are affected by road crashes through injury, fatality or as dependents of those who lose their lives in such road crashes.
The inauguration of a fully functional Service Centre in Katima Mulilo elevates the degree of access to services that have been there for a number of years for the entire Zambezi region
Deputy Prime Minister, John Mutorwa
MVA Fund Chief Executive Officer, Rosalia Martins-Hausiku in her remarks said as a public enterprise, the fund has exceptionally promoted national developmental efforts through various efforts over the years.
Therefore, Martins-Hausiku stressed that the establishment of a fully functional Service Centre in Katima Mulilo means that the Zambezi region will be less remote than before, offering citizens the full spectrum of MVA Fund services such as registration of claims, case management, and emergency support in conjunction with an emergency response base in Divundu.
The permanency in the Zambezi region through the new office is quite crucial in the fulfilment of the fund’s mandate as well as responding to government’s national developmental goals.
