The MVA Fund officially handed over Namibia’s first-ever Lodox full-body X-ray machine used in clinical healthcare to the Katutura State Hospital through the Ministry of Health and Social Services, marking a groundbreaking development in the country’s trauma care and diagnostic imaging capacity.
The cutting-edge low-dosage machine valued at N$13,202,705.35, has been installed at the Katutura Intermediate Hospital Emergency Unit, where it will play a critical role in enhancing emergency response, for all polytrauma patients including those involved in road crashes.
The handover ceremony was attended by the MVA Fund CEO, Rosalia Martins-Hausiku and her Executive Leadership Team, the Minister of Health and Social Services, Hon. Dr. Esperance Luvindao, and both senior and emergency hospital staff who formally accepted the sponsorship on behalf of the government.
“This milestone marks a transformative step in our healthcare system. The Lodox machine will strengthen our ability to provide rapid, high-quality care in emergencies, saving lives and restoring dignity to patients in critical condition,” said Hon. Dr. Espernace Luvindao.
“We are proud to deliver this first-of-its-kind diagnostic tool to Namibia’s frontline medical professionals. Our investment reflects a continued commitment to enhancing trauma care, including those who sustained injuries in road crashes who rely on state facilities,” MVA Fund CEO, Rosalia Martins-Hausiku alluded.
The Lodox machine delivers high-resolution, full-body X-rays in just 13 seconds, significantly reducing diagnosis time in trauma settings. Exceptionally to note, the machine is safe for use on pregnant patients, offering an unprecedented balance of speed, accuracy, and patient safety.
This sponsorship builds on the MVA Fund’s earlier partnership with Standard Bank Namibia, which helped revamp the Katutura Hospital’s Emergency Unit. This strategic partnership, through these initiatives are transforming the hospital into one of the country’s most advanced trauma response centres.
